Hawaii Island police have identified the body found in Waipio Valley on Sunday as 22-year-old Lindsey Nickerson of Kailua-Kona.
An autopsy conducted Tuesday bdetermined that she died of asphyxia due to drowning, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
Nickerson was last seen alive Saturday afternoon when she separated from a group of 25 persons during a hike in Waipio Valley.
